Stewart Hyde
BIO:
Stewart has been doing Judo since the age of 12 and got his black belt at 20 after beating a line of five opponents. He has practiced continuously since and reached 5th Dan in 2000. In 1990 he was able to fulfil a life long dream and travelled to Japan to train in Judo. Whilst there he trained at the Kodokan and at the Kokusai Budo Daigaku (International Martial Arts University) under Katsuhiko Kashiwazaki, the former lightweight world champion. His main teacher has been Percy Sekine 9th Dan. He is still a keen competitor although his personal view is that Judo should be an enjoyable, albeit demanding, form of physical education and character development available to all, not just those who are able to compete at a high level. Stewart is a Metropolitan Police Officer His recent competition results include three gold medals in the National Police Judo Championships, a bronze in the World Police and Fire Games and two silvers and two bronzes in the British Masters.
